I have ridden 2 wheelie machines; bikes with the back tire fixed to a trailer, the rear tire turns on resistance rollers, and a long bolt going through the rear tire axle.
The first one I road had a 2006 GSXR1000, the second one I actually road just yesterday, it had a 2006 CBR1000RR. I was able to successfully ride the GSXR at the balance point for about 4 minutes after like 8 tries, it's much harder to get the bike up than doing a real wheelie on the road, in fact the guys that own it usually have to help by pushing the front up, while you pop the clutch. If you dont jump it right to the balance point and hold it there perfect after lift off, the bike is coming right back down. Nothing like a real wheelie, where I can give it more gas and bring it back up, the wheelie machines just won't come back up. I dont think its a very good learning tool at all, infact, I think if someone was to pratice on it, and try a the same bike on the street, they would flip over and severly injure themselves. It does look cool though, and its fun to try, although I dont think I am going to waste my money anymore, I only road it yesterday cause I have been wanting to do a wheelie on a CBR1000RR, and that was my first chance, too bad it was bolted to a trailer.
