Default 1995 F3 No start.. then start...

My 1995 CBR F3 was running great last year. I rode it once at the begining of the year and it stopped on me. I tried some carb cleaner and changed the plugs. Started right up. Ran it for the day. I had to jump it. I stopped it and checked it again to see if it would start. It did. I put it away for a couple of days. Put a new battery in and moved it. Now it doesn't start again. The only thing I know that was done with it is the guy before me laid it down twice, (only cosmetic) and he put an aftermarket pipe on it. I called the shop and they said it may be that the bike wasn't "tuned" for the new pipe. They want $500 for it. I was thinking of trying to put the stock muffler back on. Is there anything else I can try instead? Thanks for the help.

Save the $500 for gas. An intermittent problem is usually electrical and is usually a bad connection. I would clean all the safety switches that can shut off the ignition like the kickstand, neutral switches, etc.

I can find my way around my truck, but this bike thing is pretty new. How do I go about checking these switches, and how do I know if they are bad. I'm guessing the fuses are just like a cars... that won't be a problem. Could this be why the battery is dying more than usual?? The terminals are clean. Thanks a lot for your help!

Sorry.... My friend reminded me. The bike is attempting to start. In fact right before I changed the spark plugs if we would get a backfire after four or five times. I know if we keep on trying to start it eventually we will have to change the battery and the spark plugs. But that is about all I know. So it's not that it won't even turn, it is cranking.. just not running.

Sounds like a faulty regulator to me.

Help me out with the regulator. Is this costly?

Check to make sure the spark plug wires are on the correct plugs. Number 1 is on the left when sitting on the bike, then 2, 3, 4.
