what stand do i use.. i guess i am kind of ignorant in this area..? spool style or idk even how they work. help

where do i put the spools at?

it is stock 96-97 subframe

 

the rear stand will mount to your swing arm. If your swing arm has a threaded tabs on both sides of the swing arm, you get the spools and attach them to the threaded tabs. If your swing arm does not have threaded tabs on the side, you can get the stand that has a pad instead of spool hookups. Basically, the bottom of the swing arm will rest on the pad as you pick the bike up.

 

I have a 1000 and bought stock stands for swing arm style. I know if you buy the spool kind you need to buy the acc. To use the stands directions came with mine . I knew it was easier with two people.

 

Get a "paddle" swingarm stand. Harbor Freight has them for $40, LINK. Otherwise you can either drill the swingarm, or use the spools which attach through the rear axle via a threaded rod.
But for basic maintenance, the paddles work fine.

looks pretty nice. i am going to build my own or cut this one apart and make it more sturdy.
