Default Whaaaaaaat?

ok here we go again . . . .same ol 98 f3 thats been making me scratch my head for 2 months now on and off i finally caught a break . . ive been able to ride the bike now for the first time . . . i love it cant keep me off it . . .but! i had the probleme with the surging bucking and jerking and i couldnt for the life of me figure out why. so i juiced the battery for a week on the trickle charger, and i decided to take the airbox off and see how it does . .the bike runs great! so i get back home put the airbox on put the charger on for the night and come out in the morning bike runs like a$$, i take the airfilter out no change . .i take the top piece off and i work my way down until eventually im left with no airbox and thats the only time the bike will run on the street, what could be the cause of this? i cant ride around forever without an airbox .if you have any ideas please let me know any input would be greatly apreciated

so i rode around yesterday and had a blast for 80 miles then all of a sudden the bike shut off i thought maybe i had to flip to reserve so i did . . .but the bike is running rich as can be now and can barely stay alive without drowning itself out . .possible i made the biek cough something up and i can put the airbox on now? . . . . . i bought a lemon lol

bike shouldn't run any differently on reserve than on regular fuel setting. If the main fuel setting is somehow restricted for flow then it sounds you might have tuned the carbs for that?

F3 manual should have a spec for proper flow rate for the fuel delivery/petcock - have you checked that the fuel pump is flowing at the proper rate on primary setting?

Default lordy

what it was since i was a dumb a$$ and ran the bike with no airbox one of the carbs sucked up a terd and clogged the needle causing it to overflow i left the gas on allnight and all day not knowing and the enitre engine filled up with freeking gas i started the bike and noticed i had a hydrostatic lock i slowly turned it over and got it to fire up no sooner than when i did that a freeking gyser of fuel and oil came out of the pcv hose . . .just my luck . . .so my plan is now to detune the carbs with smaller jets and put the airbox back on and see how she does cuz i beleive with the airbox on i restrict the amount of air it wants to make it happy so therefore its running rich so if i downsize my jets i should be good? idunno this thing is really irritating
