Default Weird VIN problem with cbr600F

So a few years back I bought what I thought was a 92 600F2. title says it is. Frame vin says it is. Engine says 89 cbr600f and all parts that fit are for 600f. The hurricane. It isn't sloppy etching. It's factory stamped. I found this problem out after spend a good deal of money on parts to find out they don't fit. Did research and found the right parts, 89 600f, and have fixed almost every last thing. Title is clean history is clean no issues what so ever. I just don't understand how this could be. I mean even the frame is shaped for a hurricane. Has any one encountered this before?

You have a 92 bike that someone put an 89 motor in.

See that's what I thought and it's not that at all. The frame design is different from the 92 cbr600 F2. The frame style engine parts and everything else is 89 hurricane. I thought that the engine was swapped but it's not. The frame reads 92 f2 but it's design is 89 hurricane.

Sounds like it could be a ringer, a stolen 89 using the identity of a later clean titled bike (possibly wrecked but not subject to an insurance claim) the owner may have just sold the frame and title when breaking the later bike.

So your saying they just printed the 92 f2 vin on a old junker or possibly stolen 89 f frame?

I think the 89 frame could be stamped with the identity of a later bike

Or it’s an 1989 bike that sat in the back of the dealership and wasn’t registered until 1992, or it was imported in 1992

Ok now that makes a lot of sense to me. I noticed on the vehicle history report that the first registration wasn't until 95. That makes so much sense. Thank you

Date first registered shouldn't change the VIN though. What's the 10th VIN digit stamped on the frame? Is it a K for 89 or a N for 92?

The 10th digit is M
