I ride my bike about once a week...that's to give an idea of what I mean by cold start...

Taking Zaqwert6...advice, it looks like it was my idle ****...before when i pull up the choke all the way, bike fire up an hold a higher rpm to warm up but idle will drop back down(cancels out) in about 20-30 seconds, even though choke **** is still up? I thought this was normal but end up not being...

Yesterday, preride check, I tighten the plastic sleeve under the ****, then fire bike up, bike hold high rev and does not drop at all...until I'm ready to ride, i manually push choke **** back down for idel to drop....

Basically, once i fire the bike up, on choke....after I put helmet on, gloves, boots....few minutes or so, bike is ready to ride...guess it was my choke cable not holding rev...drop before bike is warm..

This does not mean I'm zeroing out carb service...bike is 26K and I've never clean carb within the 6 years of owning this bike...

About misfiring, bike don't misfire....only time I notice some spitting is when a hard downshift....??

I'm just going to pipe in here and add my little bit about choke :P

I take my bike out, key in, gas on, choke on, ignition on. Crank bike.

Put on jacket, helmet, gloves (already have pants & boots on).
By the time I've got my gear on, revs are at 3.5-4.5k RPM.

I put the choke to 50% after putting on gear, RPM goes back down to 1.2-1.5k.
Quick pre ride check (tires good; no cracks (check as you're rolling her out), steering feels good, brake fluid & pads are strong, chain looks good, suspension feels right, etc).

By the end, I'm on the bike and I've done my checks, RPM's are back to 3.5k, I turn the choke off and she idles beautifully. Low RPM snap throttle (6k max since she's not FULLY warmed up yet) to check throttle feels good, and off I go.

All this takes under 90 seconds to do at a leisurely pace.

Maybe I go a little overboard, but since I live on top of a large hill, I engine brake all the way down in 2nd gear with revs ~6k RPM. By the time I'm at the bottom of the hill (1 mile), my bike is fully warmed up and ready to give'er.

Sounds like a carb sync issue?
