Default Very less mileage!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

I got a 2001 Honda CBR F4i recently. I filled it twice so far and the mileage seemed to be just 10-15miles/Gallon. Which is really really less. Any of you have the same problem? Or does anyone know the cause? Please let me know.

Thanks

you're not filling it up right...let me guess...you stick the nozzle in and when it pops, you stop filling right? WRONG mang...you gots to pull back the foreskin of the nozzle, then fill her up all the way to the bottom of the filler neck...

I usually get 130 to 140 miles before the reserve light comes on, I add about 3.25 to 3.5 gallons to top it off. It has been pretty consistant for the past few months. Does that help??

Can you smell gas?? at 15 mpg it should be leaking out or pouring out the pipe. Does the bike sit in the sun? could it be venting that much? How are the plugs? How many times have you checked the mileage? Write down the odometer reading next time, don't trust the tripometer, maybe it is resetting.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks guys for all your responses.

No I didnt think of leakage. I will check that this time. Yeah, I ride the bike to work. So, it sits in sun all day. I have to check the plugs too. I checked the mileage twice so far. The odometer reads 1600 miles. Its a 2001, but its hardly been used. How can be the tripometer resetting all by itself? Is that common?

Thanks again.

Guys,

First of all thanks for all thos wonderful suggestions, next, I know it is a very late reply, but I thought it is still worth posting. I took my bike to the Honda show room and they fixed the problem. The reason for the very low milage is, my pressure regulators are not working properly along with the plugs. They changed the plugs and 2 pressure regulators. So, it is giving 40mpg now. Cheers.

On the flip side, this for the guys who live in Utah county, beware of the show room in Orem. They took nearly 2 months to fix the bike. They blame American Honda, CA, saying that they sent the wrong/bad parts. I called the Honda and they say, there is nothing wrong from their side. So, I really dont know whose fault is this, but definately can say that the show room guys are not so responsive when ever I called them. Just a hint.

Thanks
