Default gas mileage

hey guys. new to the cbr world. just bought me a99 900. and ran out of gas twice now. from my math it seems like i am getting 25 miles per gallon. i thought that was sick. i am running 93 octane in it. every bike ive ever had we've ran 93 in it. the bike has 18,5xx miles on it and only mod is a slip on exhaust.i dont smella leak.i was just wondering what octane yall are running? and what kind of gas mileage to you get? tomorrow i will try integrating 87 and 89 octane in my gas to see how it reacts.

thanks

I have no idea how much I get, but I have to fill the '93 900rr every 100 miles.

I might be able to go 110 or 120 maybe...but that's pushing it. [:@]

hmmm...something isn't right. I get what Johnny gets, around 240, 250 miles per tank on 91 premium with a tank capacity of 4.76 gallons. If I had to use the reserve (+1 gal), I could make it 300 miles.

I can't think why it would be so different for you guys...mine is a '93 too...maybe you should check for leaks--or watch out for your neighbor stealing gas out of your bike...[:@]

One thing I had to replace was a pair of rubber seals in the carbs cause they had dried out and leaked like bitches--I mean squirting. So it's possible you guys are leaking, maybe sniff around and look visually under the carbs and around the fuel lines at idle, and then again just after coming to a stop.

Spirit, my bike is jetted with full exhaust. I dunno what stage jets, I, II or III or what brand.

Maybe that has something to do with it? Or maybe it needs a tuneup, new sparkplugs, etc?

Why you guys still using the imperial?? [:@]I'm getting confused.... [sm=headbang.gif]

Acording to sportsrider website, 97 model will be getting in average of 45 miles per gallon. I believe all the other 900 will be more and less the same.

I'm getting around approx.6 litres per 100km; that is 39 miles per gallon. That will be 185 miles per tank without reserve. I'm running my '97 with the super unleaded fuel or RON97.

A depreciation from the stock probably due to the jet kit, slip on and the hot weather too.

I averaged around 50mpg on the highway with it and around 43-45 if that included in town riding.

At the track I could squeeze 93 miles out of it before it started sputtering from sloshing around and being almost empty. Sucks to run out of gas in the corner farthest away from the pit entrance. [:'(]

Why you guys still using the imperial??
We don't.

4.76 US liquid gallons equal 3.96 Imperial gallons (no longer used in the UK), or exactly 18 liters.

and the hot weather too

Maybe for you lucky dogs that live on the equator...it's about -10 C here...[:@]

A jet kit and exhaust won't account for cutting fuel mileage in half...do you guys ride hard a lot? I really have no idea why it would be so bad...other than a leak.

Dinez, what is an imperial?
Imperial: Miles, pounds, gallons.
Metric: Kilometers, kilograms, liters.

Spirit; I really can't believe how you guys can live in that kind of coldness. The most chilling weather here will be around 15 - 20 C in the highlands. Even that I'll be freezing to death!!
