Default variable length intake

okay, so today i really sat down and started to plan how i was going to build my intake plenum and trumpets for my airbox on my fighter.

so i started searching and really trying to read up on trumpet lengths... and on one forum someone brought up how variable trumpet lengths aren't all that complicated...

and i saw a picture

it really doesn't look too complicated.... and the gist of it is: longest at low rpm and shortest at high rpms. obviously some testing would need to be done on a dyno (which i have to do anyways)... it's on a screw actuator relative to rpms.... so as the rpms rise, the v to the actuator go up pushing it down (thus the tubes slightly lower)

but is it crazy to think i could build my own set-up relatively easy? remember, i'm using microsquirt, not a honda ECU.

talk me out of it!
