Default valve lash

Albeit I'm an auto tech and this being my first bike I own, a 06 CBR1000RR, in the last month i put on 2700 miles on it and its gotta tick comin in spaced intervals which most undoubtedly points to valve lash, and its started idling a little harder now...but at 2700 miles is this common already?I broke in right, adjusted chain already, lube it every 400-500 miles, and dont ride hard, and run full synth. Anyone ever set lash on their bike, if so whats easiest way...i love tearin into things

Hi Audi, I fix cubical iron s#%@boxes for a living also. I have a 99 900RR. I just checked my valves at 9500, after lots of hard riding and track days. Only two were out, and I adjusted four. The ones that were wouldn't really have caused a problem, and it's not due to be checked until 16,000 I believe. At 2700, it's highly unusual to have a problem with a Honda product, but you should definetly figure it out before it causes a bigger problem. CBR1000 is any awfully fast first bike! Be careful!

Hey Audi, let me know how that full synth. works as far as the clutch. I'm a big believer in synthetics, but every one says don't run full because the clutch will slip. I just put Honda part synth. in it for the first time.

don't believe the hype...people run full synthetic all the time without any problems!!!
try for yourself and see...don't just read, but test for yourself!

as far as the valves...you're positive it's the valves? unlike cars, bikes are very noisy already and some valve chatter is normal, in addition to lots of other noises.

if you're worried, then get in there and check the clearances...adjusting shim under buckets are no fun though.

If it were valves, wouldn't that be a warranty issue?

The full synth runs great, I mean I have no problems at all with downshifts or anything but then again i always blip etc. So unless your droppin into first gear at 12000 i dont think you should notice any problems lol. I had 1 occasion where i had to downshift fast and hard and it drug the tire so trust me im sure it wasn't slippin. It may be warranty, but im a gear head and always feel a little better knowin i did my best on it. ill pull ol feeler guages out tomm.
