Default turn signal troubles

I just bought an 89 600f, the guy i bought it from wired up some led turn signals but they don't work. When i put the meter on them its only getting 7 volts. Is it supposed to be a constant voltage or is it supposed to go on and off? Also, any explanation for the low voltage? The signals are not lighting up at all.

If they are running lights and not the turn signals they might run at a lower voltage, in which case that would also explain why it is a constant 7V.

Turn signal lights would only get a flashing 12V or they would not flash. Either get a wiring diagram and see what color wires go where or trace the wiring harness back toward the battery and see where it stops being 12V with a multimeter.

You might start at the flasher relay and see if there's a 12V pulse when the turn signal switch is activated.

i highly recomend getting a shop manual. it makes life ALOT easier and it lists what color wires are and where they go to in the back of the book. good luck.
