turn signal problem-->now taillight doesnt work.
The following is regarding my original problem that i had posted in a different forum section.:
hi,
I wonder if anyone has encountered a problem like this:
up until last week, everything worked fine, but a couple days ago I discoved that I have a new issue with my turn signals.
My right front and rear both work correctly, but my left side ones are weird. the front left blinks twice as fast as it formerly did, and my rear does not blink at all.
Since i put on a fender eliminator kit on it a couple years ago, my first instinct was that there might be a crossed wire. I completely disassembled and unplugged all of my rear lights and signals, brake lights included, and still, the front left one blinked twice as fast, so nix on it being a rear wiring issue. My current belief is that it is the little black box(flasher) on the left side under my tail fairing that makes an audible clicking noise. I assume that is what controlls my signals, so I went to autozone and orielly's auto parts and noone could cross reference it. It says
MITSUBA
FR-3303
12.8v 85 c/m
23(21)w x 2+3.4(3)w
23(21)Wmax.4bulbs
JAPAN
A 799983DOT
anyone know if my assumption is correct, and if so, what would be the cheapest way to rectify this problem?
Thanks alot,
Nick B.
This is now my current update/status:
ok, new turn of events.the rear blinker WAS indeed broken. I replaced both of them and now they both work. but now my front and rear turn signals flash twice as fast as normal, and my tail light is out. when i tap my brake, my brake light comes on though. I checked both filaments, and i do not believe it is the bulbs. Im concerned that it might be related to the fact that i had plugged the flasher back in (after looking for a new one due to my previous suspicion) WHILE the bike (lights/indicators) was on. could i have shorted something by doing this? All filiments for all of the bulbs are not broken, and they all work properly, except for my taillight. Obviously this is enormously unsafe, so until i can resolve this, my poor motorcycle will be sheltered in my garage. are there minor things i could try to swap out to check (like a compatible flasher) or am i better off getting this to a bike shop in a few months?(when i have the money for something like that)
*and this as well*
i checked the unit coming from the flasher box to my tail light. the negative, low(taillight), and high(brakelight) all work properly. the bulbs dont have damaged filaments either. I am concerned that i damaged either the flasher box, or the much bigger, much more expensive looking box that sits between the flasher box and the taillight, turn signals, and licenseplate light. Is it take-it-to-the-shop-time, or is there something else i can do, like look for a new flasher box at an autoparts store?
I already took it to autozone, napa, and o'rielly, thinking the flasher box to be the problem to begin with, but when crossed referenced, they found nothing, and when i went to plug it back in, i didnt realize that the bike (and lights) where already turned on. Could this have killed my flasher box, or that other box with tons of wiring in it?

RE: turn signal problem-->now taillight doesnt work.
*FIXED*
apparently, when i plugged in the flasher, the power to the bike was on, and i fried the breaker for my tail light. I replaced, and all works well. The turn signals flash twice as fast now though, (which, upon investigation in this forum, it is probably from the wrong resistance on the bulb, but it works anyway. When i get around to it, ill try to correct that too, but for the time being, faster flashers wont really bother me.)
