Took her down slow on the L side, having trouble finding neutral
So, I dumped my '95 900RR today (left side) as I was out practicing for the motorcycle license exam (have a permit now). I was going slow, so there is minimal damage (rash on the stator cover, clutch lever slightly bent, aftermarket mirror cracked, and the shift lever (rear-set?) was bent a little.
I rode her home, which was just a short distance, and before putting her away, I noticed that I couldn't find the neutral "gear"... it seems to jump from 1st (down) to 2nd (up). I looked at the "neutral" light, and it doesn't come on, so I also tried rolling the bike, and it's surely in gear in both of those positions (won't roll when off, unless I clutch it). Any ideas? It was a slow crash (<5mph) do to my newness, but something is wrong. I am fine (helmet/jacket always help), but I'd like to get neutral back...
Thanks,
J

That happned on my wifes old bike too once it fell over...i never figured it out, but thinking about it now im thinking the linkage was bent? so the tiny leverage required for that half click isnt there anymore...either that or the "throw" is diffrent now and what used to be a half click is now like a 1/5th click u know?
Anyway, on hers...I always had to tap it into neutral from second...I almost never could get it from 1st.
Food for thought?

Well, just one of those dumb luck types of things. I checked out the external linkage, and it seemed fine. I rowed through the gears a few times while rolling the bike, and on about the 3rd try, everything worked fine. I don't have an answer as to what was broken, but I guess it un-broke itself.
