Default Tire Pressure, what is suggested

Need to know what PSI I should run my tires at. I have a '06 CBR600RR, with the following tires:

Front - Dunlop Sportmax D218F 120/70 ZR17
Rear - Dunlop Sportmax D218 180/55 ZR17

On the tire it states the following:
Font - 42 PSI
Rear - 42 PSI

The manual states the following:
Front - 36 PSI
Rear - 42 PSI

Currently checked mine at cold temp (outside temp 67 degrees) and they read the following:
Front - 25 PSI
Rear - 29 PSI

Obviously they are low, but where should I have them?

Typically 30 psi is recommended for aggressive riding, but you should probably run more with a passenger, and at 30 you will get less wear out of the tire. The pressure marker on the tire is the max that the tire can be run at.

i run just what manual says but im around 245 lbs. run what manual says then drive to warm them, stop, jump off and feel the tires...if they're hot they're too low(rubber flexing and will break them down quicker)...cold and their too stiff...go from there

Can't set tire pressure warm. You CAN however check pressure increase when warm to use as a gauge of how much you should have for the speed/ road conditions/ ambient temperature. I'm watching a Dave Moss DVD (Review to come soon) and he says 5-7 lbs increase is good start. This is backed by Michelin who says wait 2 hours after ride to set pressure (cold pressure).

i was misunderstood, i didn't mean set them warm, just touch them after riding to guage their temp. if its real hot its too low for your body weight and your going to destroy your tires quicker and they'll grib less because when u goto break etc little pieces of rubber will roll off. too much pressure they'll be cold and wont warm up enough to grip.

Had my 2ct's set at 31/32 when I first got them. I changed it to 34/36 for a twisty run. It felt OK... I just changed them to 32/34 to see how that feels. I'd say experiment with the tire pressure and see what feels best for you.

Had my stock tires set to 36/42 because I didn't know any better and the sticker told me to do it. I guess that is fine if you want nice clean and thin wear marks on your tires...
