Default Temp display

Im working on a 06 F4i.The temp display has been running at 65 since my friend bought the bike a few months ago.Recently it jumped to between 85 and 102.What do these bikes run at normally.Dont want to tear into it too much before I know what nornal is.I suspect the thermostat.I know the fan isnt working but that shouldnt affect it when riding on the highway.

While riding mine reads around 175-200 then in traffic it goes as high as 220 and the fan kicks on.

bump....
06 cbr f4i - I run at 175 ish at the lowest and 200ish when putting around 30-40 mph. When I am in the city going slow and clutching a lot it jumps to 210-220 and the fan kicks on. Sounds like your thermostat is stuck open or non existant. Better to be stuck open then stuck closed, lol.

the thermostat opens slowly as it gets hotter.....eventually it is all the way open around 180. Yours might be opening all the way and closing all the way. Not opening slowly as it it gets hotter. Definitely something to get fixed, these motors are built to run at normal operating temps for fuel efficiency and timing. (even though we all like when the motor is cool rather than hot)

I'm gonna replace it just in case. From what I've gathered from the manual its a bit of work to get at.My book only covers up to 03 but it should be close.Do I need to replace gaskets between the head and throttle bodies or are they O-ringed?

have you taken the fuel tank off yet? I posted a tech question about 15 min ago. maybe you can help. That big azz round metal plate on the bottome of the tank.....your fuel pump is just on the other side of that (in the tank) isnt it? Is it a beotch to remover from the tank? The rubber gasket/seal thingy around it is leaking on me.

Just remove the bolts around the outside of the big azz metal plate. You may have to wiggle it a bit but it will come off.Replace the gasket dont try to use silicone gas the gas will eat it

My bike tends to run at about 160 when riding (moving consistantly, not a lot of stopping.) I believe my fan kicks on at 220. I would check the connection at your sensor. Possibly needing to replace it.
