Tail light wont light!! plzz help

Tail light wont light!! plzz help
I bought this bike from the previous owner and he said that the taillight would never come on for him when he hit the brakes. so im taking a look, and the wiring is a mess. it looks like someone re-wired it with speaker wire, but it's like woven in, there are three or four wires that are connected to nothing, and i tried to untangle the mess and touched the brown wire, to the speaker looking wire, and the greeen one , which are connected, i don't have a multimeter, so if there is anyone that can help me let me know, here are some pics, yeah i know they suck.
i forgot to mention, when i touched the brown one to the speaker wire and green that are connected, it blew the fuse automatically

What kindof bike is it?
Alot of the bikes have a black/brown, a green and a green/yellow going to their taillight. The black/brown is your ground for the lights, your green is your taillight running lights and your green/yellow is your brake bright lights. Trace back the hacked up wiring till you find where it connects to something stock, and note the color of the stock wires. Or just dig up a old 12 volt bulb, ground one side of the bulb and use the other side to test the wires. One shouldnt do anything (your ground), one should light it immediately (running lights) and one should only light it when you hit the brakes (brake brights). To double check the one you think is the ground, hook one side of the bulb to a battery hot and the other to the ground wire, bulb should light then.
These colors are off of an f4i but i think they are pretty much the same, if not the same color atleast the same purposes. It's a really simple circuit, power is supplied to a couple of switches (both brake switches) when one or both of them are toggled it applies that power to a taillight that then illuminates.
