Switching from standard to synthetic oil
#21
The only problem I can see with using an oil intended for cars is the fact that they contain friction inhibitors and could cause the clutch to slip. I would stick to bike specific oils, but not necessary a synthetic one. I would just use the one suggested in the handbook; a good 10W/40 should be fine plus regular oil changes.

When I switched oils after my break in period I did an awful lot of research. And I came up with rotella 5w-40. I saw pictorials of a motorcycle engine taken apart at like 120,000 miles and could not believe how clean all the parts were with minimum wear!!! And now it is JASO approved. Which I know cost SHELL alot of money, however SHELL has such a hughes and dedicated motorcycle following that was the right thing to do. I would not be suprised if more motorcycleist used SHELL ROTELLA than diesel engine owners. LOL It is that good I mean GREAT!!!!!!!
