I got some nut/bolt removers for Christmas. They are like EZ-Outs, except that they fit OVER the nut/bolt head, and then you can put a larger socket on it and really crank. That may be what you need. Mine are Craftsman.

I swear I'm not being a smart *** but are you absolutely positive you're turning the bolt in the correct direction for removal? Reason I ask is that the aluminum the bolt is threaded into will usually strip before the bolt head rounds off or shears. When you do get the new bolt make sure to use a torque wrench to tighten it and avoid any future problems.

Another alternative is to weld another bolt on to the stripped one and use an impact wrench to remove the bolt.

Sometimes if you let the bike warm up it may help to loosen. I just can't believe the Vice Grips wont clamp down tight enough!

Anyone intervene if this is not a good idea but maybe use a propane torch on the bolt to heat it up then remove it when it is still hot. Also maybe try to use MAP gas instead of propane since it burns hotter.

Get some rope and tie it to th handle bar and then put a bolt with a pulley on the ceiling(in a crossmember) of garage pull rope through and then tie it off.

929_erion, You have to use aircraft cable for that to work, duh.

The sears tool works pretty good though. I have used them on stuff before but I am shocked that the vise grip doesn't work. Are you using big enough vise grips? (Sorry not saying you don't know how to use them)

heat make things expand making it harder to remove the bolt.
