steering stabilizer?
i recently laid my 05 f4i down hard(~80 mph) and it is in pretty bad shape but doesnt seem to be a total loss. the rear frame will need replaced and the fairings are trashed. i got death wobble under full acceleration and someone told me the steering stablizers correct this. can someone chime in?seems like a must if im gonna ride this thing again.
Im not exactly sure what you mean by death wobble. But, a steering damper can eliminate steering wobble due to mid corner bumps, wheelies that come down sideways.. basically anything that puts a force onto your handlebars, the damper will minimize it.
but, in your case, it sounds like your have something major wrong. Your steering will get lighter and feel less stable, but a death wobble should never happen just from acceleration if everything is set up right and in good working order.
If its under full acceleration. I would lean towards something wrong in the suspension... front or rear. Either misaligned or bent.
can you feel the wobble only in the front?
or can you feel the entire bike wobbling?

Glad to hear your ok, 80mph is no joke.
To answer your question. Yes it will help a lot with wobble especially at high speeds.
In short a steering stabilizer is to help damper the left and right movement of the steering. The forks is for up and down movement.

i got the term death wobble from a rider around here. its when the handlebars violently shake left to right in a fast motion and you cant really control it at all. i lifted the front of the bike and i know it came down straight but it started the death wobble then i jumped. i know the bike had been laid down before i bought it and i had the front forks seals redone.
should i not bother tryin to rebuild it after it has been laid down so hard?
