Default Stator/ Rectifier

Ok ladies and Gents, I need help. I have a 2002 CBR f4i, I was all hyped up to go for a nice long ride friday after work. My bike started fine, but while talking to a co-worker they noticed smoke coming from my stator/ regulator rectifier connection, it burned up pretty good too. My first thought was, I have a bad ground. Problem is, I have no idea where the ground could possibly be. Does anyone have a idea where its at so I could check it? Also, I wanna get another stator and regulator rectifier. Where could I get a good one at a reasonable price? I heard suzuki makes one that works good for my bike, is there any truth to this? Thanks in advance gor any help.

Mains under seat bolted to the frame. Ring connectors around it. Left side. Not sure as far as the stator and r/r. Id just google it and take your pick. Cheers.

Make sure it's a mosfet one. I think the new Honda ones have more cooling fins now so are better. I too have heard the Suzuki ones are indeed better than the Honda ones. Interestingly I have the exact same model and was recently stranded in the middle of nowhere on a new moon night in Shaftesbury . The road where it died on me had no runoff area with two tall banks of grass and I was with the wife-proper ordeal. Btw only one cager stopped to offer help and he turned up to be a biker. If he's around here....thanks a lot mate!

ive replaced burnt out stock reg/recs of a variety of different bikes, with a Mosfet type one off a 2007-2008 R1. they were very cheap, very effective, and very reliable.

Ive not looked for one for a while though, so not sure if they are still plentiful.
