Default Startling sound from 98 F3

Okay, so I noticed on my bike, which only has 12,xxx miles, that its begun the dreaded ticking sound. I've already ordered the manual tensioner to get rid of that noisy automatic one. But recently I've been hearing some strange sounds coming from the bottom right side of the bike. Not sure its its the engine, but it sounds like metal scraping. Kind of like the sound when you rub two quarters together. It goes away completely when I accelerate and cruise, and only comes back between 2k and 3k rpm. In neutral it makes that sound regardless of rpm. I really hope its not a crank bearing, as I cannot afford to get that fixed now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if it disappears when accelerating its strange that it stays while in neutral at any RPM, are you sure it disappears, or does it just get drowned out by the sound of the bike? if you can put it on a rear stand/jack it up, and run it on the stand with a friend and see if you can pin point the origin of the sound.

I'm almost 100% sure it's coming from the right side near the cct. Would the cct cause that noise? I'm going to drain the oil tonight and look for any metal
