Default Starter location on a 2000 CBR600F4

Hi, I've got a 2000 CBR600F4 and I'm fairly certain the starter went out on me. So I bought a new, but before I get to tearing the bike apart to replace it, I was hoping someone could tell me how I could get to it. Cause I don't know where it's located and I don't want to start tearing everything apart until I find it.

Any help would be appreciated. Weather has been breaking so I'd like to get this up and running by the weekend.

Thanks,
Craig

Although this is a photo of a F3, the starter is in the same location. The starter is the round cylinder object located to the left of the Brass coupling. It's essentially below the carburetors and toward the left side of the bike as you're sitting on it.

(don't pay any attention to the red circles, the photo was for another purpose)

Beautiful, it looks like I should just have to pop my left panel off and it should be right that. That's awesome. Now hopefully it'll stop raining so I can get this fixed and get back on the road.

It might be a little more tight than that. Good luck.

Good pic above. Yep, there's a "little" more to it than just removing your L lower fairing. Its not rocket-science tho. You can do it.

Okay, so the weather finally broke enough to get outside and start working on my bike. Still a bit cold, but clear skies.

I took the lower left fearing off and couldn't find the starter anywhere. So I ended up trying to take the gas tank off, however I couldn't get it all the way off cause I couldn't get the fuel line running from my gas tank to my carbs to come off. But I got it far enough apart so I could find the starter. It's right below the gas tank on the left hand side. It's pretty much in the middle of everything though. And I have nowhere near enough room to access easily, and I'd like to avoid taking unnecessary things apart. What am I going to have to take out to finish getting this job done?

Turn off your fuel & remove the old fuel line. W/ it being an 11 yr old bike, you really need to replace it anyway. You're liable to crack it just by lifting up the tank.

I also have a 2000 F4 & replaced my fuel line about 3 yrs or so ago due to it cracking. Hear me now, believe me later...you don't want an old fuel line cracking & leaking fuel while you're on a ride...that is unless you carry a fire extinguisher w/ you at all times.

Little (or big - depending on your viewpoint) things like this, people overlook all the time w/ older bikes.

Fuel it turned off, but I can't seem to detach the lines. At any point. But even if I do, and get the tank off, I can't even come close to getting the starter out. Not enough room to get to it.

The manual says you need to drain the coolant from the system, then remove the hose from the top of the water pump to gain access to the starter.
