Speedometer not calibrating???

Hi. How did you check to see if you were doing 15 mph? If you have a motorway close to your house, get on it and travel at 60mph from one motorway 'phone box to the next and it should take you one minute as they are one mile apart, verifying the speedometer is pretty accurate. If it takes you more than one minute you are travelling slower than 60mph and more than 60mph if you complete the mile in less than a minute. This will give you a good idea as to the accuracy of the speedometer. If it proves to be way out, then you'll have to find a local guy who can calibrate it for you. Failing that a good known-to-be-accurate second hand one may be the next step.

The bike is completely stock. No regearing.
When I noticed the speedometer was off, I was driving through a wal mart parking lot. I was following a car that was driving super slow, so I looked down to see how fast he was going and it was telling me I was doing 47mph.
So I drove home and got my buddy to get in his truck. We went out and accelerated to 40mph, my speedo was reading 86mph
