Default spark gapping?

hey guys, whats up. got a 87 1000f and having a hard time getting it stated. the book says between .8 and .9 mils is good. anyone know anything else about this?

If that's wot the good book recomends, then it should be right. Wot sort of condition are the plugs in? Adjusting the gap is a good, but if your bike not starting & you suspect the plugs, then just gapping them will make bugger all difference. A good tan colour around the electrode is a indicator of your bike running well, but if their covered in sooty or black residue then its something else (maybe carb adjustment/fuel to air adustment needed). Anyway hope you get your bike running
