sometimes it starts sometimes it doesnt?
ok i have a 95 cbr600 that i got not to long ago.
somedays it will start & run just fine. & then the next day it wont start at all.
it first did it when i was going around the corner & it just stalled on me & wouldn't start back up, but it did later on. it seems to do it more when it is really hot.
& sometimes i have to hold the throttle all the way down for it to crank.
any idea's? im new to bikes.
thank you

RE: sometimes it starts sometimes it doesnt?
could be a bad battery, i have a similar problem. when i would get ready to stop it would stall out on me(i ended up turning up the idle so it would not stall) but the same thing in the morning it would fire right up and when it got hot the battery did not have the juice to turn over the motor. so i swaped the battery from my other 900 and have not had a problem since, how ever the battery did the same thing w/the other bike.

The petcock is another name for your fuel switch. Yes, if you battery is fully charged and your alternator is disconnected it should still start, but soon your battery will die because its not being charged.
It sounds to me like faulty electronics, have you tried disconnecting your kickstand switch? Check for any loose connections around your fuse box area. Check if any of the connections are burned, that will indicate a loose one, including your fuses.
That happened to me as well when I was using the wrong fuel for my bike. Older bikes run better on lower octane fuel, higher octane fuel isnt more powerful, its more suited for engines with higher compression ratios.
