Default some things don't go to plan !

Hi All, todays job on my 600fk was to strip the cylinder head, valves out for regrind and the missing exhaust studs robbed before I received it replaced with titanium studs things took a turn for the worst when one stud that was embedded in the head that had snapped wouldn't budge when drilled on the pillar drill to within an inch of its life, heat applied, easy out not budging it until crack the aluminium gave way. Luckily there was some thread left once I got the stubborn bit out to fit a longer stud with studlock I have ordered some extreme heat metal putty also to rebuild the broken bit when set. Pics show valves been removed using my cheap chinese compression tool ( not only coronavirus comes out of china ) some useful stuff does too lol.

Valve stem seals removed for new ones on reassembly. Couple of things to add may be of interest note I have an area at the rear of the bench drilled to keep all the valves in order, I use takeaway plastic trays numbered to keep each cylinders bits in order and the tray the head is sat in is half of a 25lt barrel carefully cut to make two parts wash trays sometimes it's the little things that help make a job easier.

Great job and such a neat workshop, wish I had the space. Fingers crossed for the 'putty' fix

A machine shop could probably weld the pieces back together. Better than putty.
