Default soaking clutch friction plates in gear oil?

would it be any harm if i soak the new plates in gear oil? i dont have any regular oil and going out to buy oil is not an option(dont ask)...if it is harmfull im just going to throw them in the basket *** dry.

The plates will absorb a little of the oil, and prevent them from burning when you fit them.
Any mineral oil is better than non - hell I run my 1000F on diesel oil - cheaper and better than bike oil..............
Don't fit them dry !
