Slip on without a PC??
So I've heard both, it's ok and it's not ok, I've also read both on these forums. Is there a definitive answer? I ride an '06 F4i and I hear a PC is just like when you would jet the carbs and you need to do it if you get a slip on. I've also heard since my bike is fuel injected the computer will automatically do it for you and you don't need to get one. I'm going to be getting a Mircon (either silver blue like voodoo or blue black) at the end of this month with birthday money and I want to know if I NEED to dish out another $300+ish for a PC.

my understanding was that if you have a slip on you dont have to jet the carbs unless you run a full system (header back) and that on a FI bike a slip on will be corrected by the ecm and that a PC will just help to fine tune and help the bike run better throughout the power band
How much better will it run? Is it noticeable, like $350 noticeable? I just can't see spending that kind of cash on something that I honestly don't know if it'll make that big of a difference. Now if putting a PC on there will make like blue flames shoot out of the exhaust and help me do wheelies, well, then I'm all about it! =D
So basically it will not hurt my bike if I run without a PC you're saying? I think I'll probably just buy the slip on and run like that for a while then when I have $350 burning a hole in my checking account I'll get a PC.

If its a high flow muffler you have to re-jet. You will runlean and hot if you dont. With FIthough I dont know. I would think you have to PC it. If the computer did it automatically then whats the use of the PC3. I say yes you do if you want it to run correct.
if im wrong let lighting strike me down right now...........
*looks around* ok i think were goodlol
but yes i dont think it will hurt anything by just running a slip on. now if you start over broing teh cylinders and high compression pistons and turbo kits then yea you might want to add one.... or if you just want a smoother power/rpm band but ive heard some people say after getting it tuned that it was too perciese especially for street use ... but to each his own.. i have a PC on my 929 and it works nice, i also have a full yoshi system with k/n filter

I'm thinking of putting a K&N air filter too. I understand that is higher flow. I'm not going to burn anything up am I? Hell if the bike runs any hotter I'm going to melt to the seat! 217degrees is freaking HOT!
On my 02 F4i i have a K&N Filter and a Yoshi slip-on, no power commander and it runs just fine. I have been looking into a power commander because I heard it would help smooth out the powerband and make it more consistant. Where it lies right now, at lower RPMS(Up to about 5-6K) it is kinda boggy, and then it just sort of "kicks in" I would rather it distribute the power more evenly so take-offs would be quicker and acceleration woul be constant.
I posted this in another thread so I'll just copy/paste.
I'm not sure on the tech aspect of this, but I know that moding will lean your bike out. I placed on a Two Brothers slip on andthe ECU does read this and I believe tries to counter it. The stock ECU does not vary it much though. I had some diagnostics done on my bikewhen I was having problems and the sheet showed that I was within the "operational range" but on the very edge of the lean side. The tech's advised me that anything more, andI'll have to use a Power Commander to get back to where the engine needs to be for optimal performance.
