Default single air filters

I posted this in 2 different sections with no answers from a while ago. Since this page gets alotmore traffic,I might get more answers. Is there any gain from removing the factory airbox under the gas tank and replacing it with4 single pod filters mounted to each carberator? Would this mod improve airflow significantly or no difference in airflow? I ran the box without the lid once to see if there was any gain and found out it made it harder for the motor to pull air in. I figure though, removing the airbox would take that problem but from doing prior research the airbox isn't as restrictive as I intended it. Is this a worthwile modification or am I just dreaming to much? My bike already has a K&N filter installed when I bought it this summer.

Air flow is not an issue. The reason it screws things up is because of the amount of vacuum in the airbox. Not worth the trouble, time is better spent on a jet kit or something else.

What about drilling holes in the lid itself?

Wouldn't do it...
When at speed the airbox becomes pressurized.Drilling holes (or taking the the top off) completely negates this effect. If anything look at making the intake tubes larger and smoother on the inside.

I already removed the air silencers that were bolted to the top the lid used to quiet down the air. That made alot more room for the filter to breathe. Can you buy bigger or longer intake boots into the carbs?

If you ran the filters like you want to you would have to jet the **** out of the carbs. You will go to lean with the open filters for stock jetting. I would just leave the stock air box alone.
