Default Sidestand Spring Removal

Stupid question: How do I get the sidestand spring off?

I'm prying at it, but I don't want to get blasted in the face, or not be able to put the spring back on later.

Thanks

you should be able to get a piece of thick string around the end of the spring and pull it off the locating lug. Another way is to grind/file a slot into the end of an old large screwdriver and use the slot to push the spring off the lug. Make sure the stand is in the closed position, not as though you were using it to lean the bike on. If you have a centre stand put it on the stand and use one of the above methods. It should come off quite easily.

Thanks, highway. I'll give that a shot tomorrow!
