Default Shift lever adjustment options?

I seem to have big clunky feet in big clunky boots. I'm feeling constrained as far as the amount of room I have to get my boot under the shift lever for upshifts.

It's a 2003 F4i.

I've adjusted my shift lever so that it is as high as it can go and still allow reliable engagement of second gear. Found out the hard way that you can go to far with that!

To do that I adjusted the rod which links the shift lever to the lever coming out of the side of the transmission.
(Feel free to help me out with the correct terminology here...)

Do I have any other options that would result in the tip of the shift lever being another 1/8" to a 1/4" higher? Any other adjustments I can make with the shift linkage?

Thanks!

Default RE: Shift lever adjustment options?

The shift lever linkage on my old 1000F is splined onto the gearshift spindle with a pinch bolt. If you mark it with a dab of paint, you can take it off and rotate it one or two splines, so the shift lever is higher, then reinstall it. Your 600 should be about the same.

Thanks slowpoke.

I was wondering if that might be the way to go. I'll give it a shot. One spline would probably give me enough room....
