Default Sheared manifold stud stuck in head!!!

Hi all. I was attempting to change the downpipes on my cbr600 f3 and sheared one of the studs off in the head! I no..what a plonker!! Has anyone any suggestions on how to get this out please? ive tried penetrating oil and mole grips..that sort of thing but had no joy...it appears to have welded itself in!! There is about 10mm of the stud sticking out. Only other thing i can think of is to try removing the front wheel and drilling it out?? What a pain!! grrr!!! Any help would be much appreciated

Your best bet would be to find a nut that will slip over the stud, or better yet, thread onto the stud, and then weld the nut to the stud, the heat from the welding will help break the grip of the corrosion, and the nut will give you something to turn it out with , I use that trick a lot on both aluminum and cast iron.

I like rick's way but you might not have access to a welder. I dunno what the hell "mole grips" are, but put a pipe wrench on it. And heat it up if you can

Get this

There are many ways of getting it out, if you do not have any tools or give up. your last choice is to drill it out and retread it.

good luck and keep us posted

I do this kinda stuff all the time, for a living, if you have access to a welder, or know someone who does, it will probably take longer to drag the welder out than to do this job. I'm talking literally a 5 minute job (with the fairings already off, of course).

Yea. Not everyone has access to a welder but its a good investment. Never know when you would need it =P
