Default service #@%#$%up

Gents,

I am in a bind and do not know what to do. I just picked up my bike from my local motorcycle shop as it needed a carburetor clean up. It turns out that the service tech damages my tank. He chipped my tank at the lower section. The chipped is about ¼ inch wide and about 3/8 of an inch long. How should I proceed with them? They tried to paint the chip real quick but I say no. They order a pen touch up kit to do the job. I just do not feel good about it and do not know how to proceed from here.

If you had this happen to you, please let me know as to what to ask from them as retribution.

George from Pasadena

I'd want it back exactly the same way I brought it to them. If it didn't have a have a chip with touch up paint on it when you brought it in, it shouldn't have a chip with touch up paint on it when you get it back... period, end of discussion. If they damage it, they're liable for the repair or replacement, which in this case is either a) repaint the entire tank exactly the way it was, or b) replace the tank. IMHO that's the only two options I see. Have you payed your bill yet? If you haven't I wouldn't pay it until this is resolved. Don't be a dick about it or anything otherwise who knows what kind of runabound they'll give you, but choose your words wisely and politely let them know which way is up. Remember arguments are won with your brain, not with your mouth. Talk to them in stern yet respectful manner and tell them exactly what you want done. Every shop is different, some care and will fix their mistakes, others won't do anything short of taking them to court. Try it and see what happens.

Good luck!

Did you take it to a honda dealer?? If so.. they are under hondas eye at all times for csi ratings. As for what thridgenlxi said don't yell be under control and if you dont get them to replace or repair (call honda directly) I work at a Honda dealership. Good Luck!!
