Default Service Manual wrong??

In the service manual in section 8-24 the picture contradicts what it tells you to do when lining up these marks. Can someone explain this to me? I redid my timing last night and went by the picture and not what it actually says to do. Is this a misprint?

Thanks
Joe

It said to line up the "t" mark with the index mark -- and that's what the picture shows ... I'm not seeing where the descriptions differs from the photo ...

If your setting the cam timing it's the line next to the "T" that you line up with the cut out on the casing, then the horizontal lines in the cam gears should then line up with the top on Cyl head as it should show in the manual.

if you lined it up with the "T" I think you might be a tooth out.

The marks are ...... "T" line.....line "F"....

The cut out on the casing should be around the 1 '0' clock mark

you are only taking the timing inspection cap off aren't you??
