you could always call the piggies, just better have some sort of title or you're in TRUBBEL!

First of all...never buy a bike without a title...and matching VIN number. To do so is just asinine.

Use a payphone...tell the DOT you are thinking of buying the bike but do not possess it...and give them your name only if asked.

There is no need to give out your address or phone number...and if told you have to do so...say thanks anyway, hang up, and use another method.

If the VIN is stolen...whether you have possession of the bike or not...and they know where you live...you are inviting trouble.

The less you say to anyone...the better off you are and will be.

Just for the record...

I've never been involved with stolen bike's...other than had mine stolen...and another one attempted stolen...just fyi.

Never recovered the stolen one..and the other one wasn't worth the trouble.

The bike has a clean title and is in great shape. My credit union is handling the paperwork because I have the loan through them.

I am suspecting that it was stolen and then recovered. I just wanted to know for sure.

If I were you, I would use one of those VIN checking services...and not go to the police or DOT.

It costs a little...but inviting the cops into your life could cost you much, much, much more.
