Default RPM's

I have a 96 f3 that is stock. How many rpm's should I be twisting in top gear at 55 mph? It was around 4000 and I think thats is to high. Any thoughts what could be wrong?

You should be pulling 4800 RPM in 5th at 54.7mph. 6th gear at 4800 RPM will yield 60.4 mph. I know that's not quite what you asked, but based on that, you ARE running stock sprockets/tires and are turning the correct RPM vs speed. So your bike doesn't have anything wrong, according to Honda's standard, street ratios.

My 98 F3 is getting between 38-41mpg. I don't do a lot of 'romping' but I do like to maintain a 'crisp', authoritative throttle when riding. ;-)
