im trying to find out any information about the first Rossi Rep, with the grey wing finish.
I believe only 100 were imported into the UK, if this is correct, does the bike have a number plaque, some way to identify it is a genuine model ? I have looked on the net, it cannot much information.
Hi romft,
AFAIK there are no number plaques for the Rossi Rep, originally there were 100 for the uk in 2001, but when Rossi won the championship that year they produced another 2000 for Europe and Aus, not sure how many of those made it to the UK.
It would have taken quite a bit of effort to replicate esp as for the UK it was based on the 'sport' version that only had a 2 year run 2001-2002 which you can check the year of manufacture from the Vin Plate.
Sooo if it looks good and feels right it could certainly be worth a punt as long as it does not carry too much of a price premium.
Cheers
Al

Hi Al,
mant thanks for the reply, greatly appreciated and helpful.
When produced they only differed slightly from the 'F' with Sport featuring dual valve springs to allow it to rev higher in race trim, a lighter fly wheel and sportier cams – not that you can tell the difference on the road, however the Sport (like its american cousins) lacks a centre stand and grab rail.
Everything else being the same except for the fancy new livery including the same very heavy original exhaust and not a slip on!
well, on CMSNL the 2002 JDM Rossi has the 18310MBWJ20 part # while the 2002 EUDM S model has the 18310MBWD40 designation… who knows, it is now just … 20 years later… oh I am getting old
