How can I find out of lane-splitting is legal in my state (TN)? I do it only when traffic is stopped, and I always have my horn covered. I haven't had any issues with sliding on the paint... I try to ride just to the left or right of it.

I am wondering how can lane splitting be illegal, sort of defeats the object of going to work by bike.

In SoCal it really cuts down on my travel time. Besides, I lane split so that I can give the cars that extra 6 feet of road. Anyone who lives in Socal will tell you that you'll
make a persons day when you let them move forward 6 feet while in bumper to bumper traffic. It is kind of like giving an elderly person your seat on the bus. It'll
bring a tear to their eye.

On hot days it would suck to sit in traffic in leathers and sweat your a$$ off. I can understand why some people are against it; it's not legal where they ride. I don't recall
ever seeing anyone splitting lanes in an unsafe manner. I don't consider it unsafe but I do feel my senses are all focused on the cars around me. I don't EVER think about
anything other than what could happen. I don't even think about what is for dinner while splitting lanes.

There are days when I don't do it. Especially when I am just out enjoying the ride.

Be safe and and ride free... I wish it was legal everywhere.

BACK TO THE ORIGINAL QUESTION. If you hit the painted line to the right of left of the high point then it'll pull a little to the right or left. I notice it more at slower speeds.

yeah when I am lane splitting (filtering). Your right x2madf4i, all that on your mind is cars cars cars. What is that car doing? what is that truck doing? I need to get into that lane. Is my road positioning ok. Any fellow riders behind me? and of course stay as less time as possible off the white lines. Its intense, but when you made it home after work and open a can of beer, I feel good that I made it home in one peice.
