Default just painted, now what?

alright, well i just got done painting my bike with canned paint. and last nite i shot my clear coat, and i'm letting it just sit now and cure. So my question is, should i wet sand the clear coat also? and then after that, what should i put on it? like a wax or a polish? or anythin else to help protect the paint job?! thanks guys!!

I'd wet sand the clear then shoot another layer of clear on it. I always do at least 2 layers of clear. Then let it sure for 30 days before you polish it up, let the paint & clear completely cure. You could probably get away with a hand polish, but no buffer for a month

A month? yeah right. I let it sit for one or two days with HOK paint (24 hour wait time in HOK manual) then wet sand with 2000 grit sandpaper and take a variable speed orbital buffer and apply finish cut by wizard then apply shine master from wizard by hand. Use wizard products for the buffing they work great

Hey man, paint is what I do. Always tell customers wait 30 days to buff. Hand polish is ok, just no powered buffer. You can go by what theHOK manual says, or if you don't wanna risk ruining your new paint job, be safe and do it right. No paint completely cures & hardens in 24 hours, unless you bake it, but do as you wish

Yeah I will do the buffing a few days after clear coat... but technically it doesnt cure for what 6-8 weeks? I just make sure not to clean with harsh cleaners just water until then... whaeva works.. i can imagine there would be some angry customers having to wait for their parts to cure for 30 days

Yea, that's all I'm sayin, just be easy on it for awhile. If you hit it with clear right you shouldn't have to polish much anyway, the clear will give you a good shine. Go over it by hand and give it a quick polish up, but wait on the serious stuff
