Default riding long distance

I am thinking about getting a 2001 F4i with 8k miles on it. I know how to ride but have never done it long distance before. Is it safe to ride this kind of bike across large parts of the country? Also what is the average life mile wise for a bike like this?

cbr9... Go for it !!!!!! Cheack your tires, pressure and for foriegn objects. Lube your chain regularly and check oil level. Your only limited by your ability to stay in the saddle. 8k, is hardly broke in.
In the day... people toured on everything, 175's, enduros, even harleys !!!!!!!!! my 84 vf1000f, breathed on ,and w/ yosh race exaust, went to texas, from wa.and back, only problem, fuel pump. thank you holly. wish it was me !!!!!!!!!!! ride it !!!!!!!!!!!! clean and free, Ripp'n

Hell yea get it!! F4i is a great bike for going long distance... probably some of the best ergos you'll find on a sportbike. Very very reliable... mine just turned 50,000 miles last weekend, and I'm leaving tomorrow (fri) for an 18 day 5,000 mile roadtrip to Deals Gap, NC, Cheaseapeake Bay, VA, Ohio, Illinois and back down to S. Fla. Never a single problem and still runs like a dream!

That's some serious mileage - good to see. I've just hit 27000 miles on my 04 CBR600rr & i'll prob see another 27000 by the time i've finished with it. F4i is a cracking sport/touring bike, it'll go forever...... Basic pre ride checks & a good service history will keep you going for a long time yet. Enjoy it!

50k miles on a two-year old bike? Wow, I'm jealous of your lifestyle.
