Has anyone used Repsol Moto 4T Oil 10W40? Is it a good oil, how did you like it?

 

i've used it, and,.....eh i dont know, its oil!

Ive talked to my local Honda shop and wondered the same thing. Heres what he told me -->

"Repsol oil is ment to be used on the track and is formulated to be used at high Rs and high temps. So unless your bike is going to be used mainly on the track, the oil wont protect your motor as well as HondaGN4 because GN4 is made for street use and normal temps."

Makes sense to me.

 

I suggest Amsoil or Maxima full synthetic without moly.... Both are really good street or track.

 

The only difference I've ever heard about synthetics is how they quiet the engines buzzing “sewing machine” noise and maybe smooth the feel of the shifter. I changed from Honda's GN4 to Motul's synthetic at 4000 miles and experienced both effects in my 05 CBR600RR.

Now I'm no scientist but I can't see how a so called "racing" oil is going to hurt an engine if it is not bouncing off the rev limiter all the time. Now don't get me wrong if you are on a budget then by all means stick with Honda's recommended oil it will work fine and will probably enable your engine to last just as long as a synthetic. Bottom line is you won't regret it either way you go. What ever you do, be advised, you don't want to try a synthetic until your 4000 mile oil change. Everything I've read says it's best to use organic oil up to that point.

I will stick with the synthetics but I may try Repsol so I can take advantage of the Nicky Hayden t-shirt promotion.
