Default rear sprocket hub question

The hub where my sprocket is bolted, it has some play between that and the wheel. I noticed cuz i was trying to loosen my front sprocket by using the rear break (with chain installed) and the wheel stays locked buy that hub still kinda rotates..

Is it supposed to do that?
please help quickly, im trying to change my sprockets n chain as we speak.

The sprocket isn't really bolted to the wheel. It slips on the hub between several rubber dampers, so there will be some play. How much is it moving?

how much play are you talking about? The rubber cush drive will have some play. Have you pulled the drivehub assembly out to make sure the cush drive rubber blocks aren't deteriorating or damaged?

I can't find a spec in the Honda manual for how much play is "too much". I'll check my Clymer manual when I get home to see what it says.
