Default rear left blinker inop

i bought this 1999 f4 and it came with an undertail/led brake lights signals, all flush under the tail. everything works except the left blinker, it looks like the wires to it are fine, does anyone know how i would find out how or where to order a replacement? i have no idea what brand undertail/lights they are.

additionally i want to install a manual fan switch to bypass the stock relay. i find i would rather switch my fan on and off manually every time i stop to prevent my bike from going 220+ degrees rather than waiting for 220+ to see it drop again. if anyone knows the best way to do that let me know.

Did you check it with a multimeter to see if it's getting +12V at the wire going to the LED?

On the manual switch, I have one on my 1000RR. The basic wiring is probably the same concept. On mine (and probably yours as well) the +12V signal is at the fan relay as soon as the key is turned on.

What triggers the relay is when the computer sends a ground signal to it. That closes the contact and sends the +12V to the fan.

Keep the existing wiring in place but add a switched ground wire that goes to the same connection point on the fan relay socket as the ground wire that's there now. By doing it this way the fan will still come on automatically when the temp reaches a certain point but you can also turn it on whenever you want with the switch. The added benefit is that if you forget to turn the switch off when you turn the bike off you won't drain the battery because the fan will still turn off when the key is in the OFF position.

I wrote up a detailed "how-to" with pics in the 1000RR section if you're interested.

thanks thats exactly how i'll do it, shouldn't be too difficult. as far as checking for 12v going to the LED theres no opening to do so because its a closed unit, unless i cut the wire. all the wiring done for the undertail kit looks like it was done pretty well, not really too sure how the LED's work though

The wire coming from the LED has to eventually plug in somewhere. That's where I'd check to see if it's getting 12V when the signal is turned on.

You can "tap" into the wire with a sharp pin, without cutting any wires. Stick a pin in the wire, without shorting it against anything else, and check the pin for voltage when the signal is switched on.
