Maybe holding a Dust-off can upside down and spraying it at the bolt would cool it... sprays out some liquid aerosol propellant that freezes on contact. Interesting thought, I'd be worried about hitting other stuff though.

ORIGINAL: collector

I did but the fused shaft made it impossible to turn, so that turned out to be the best option and only cost me a bolt and some welding. Total £21.00

Yikes!!!! $42 bucks collector!!! I can see how that would work, but I would use it as a last resort. I had the front pin that hold in the pads for the front caliper (My ride is an F3) and the allen head was stripped. I applied the heat to the area of the caliper where the pin is and it broke loose right away using vise grips on it. Try putting heat on the bolt to minimize the direct exposureto thepaint on the frame. If you apply it to the frame, it will burn it off the paint and expose bare metal. Hopefully it will be enough heat to break the bond loose.

That would have been a great sollution, but the mounting bolt is at least 3.5inches long and it had'nt been out in its 20years of life, so heat was never going to do it. Well the problem got cured in the end. Now waiting for the engine to come back from the bead blasters, so I can start rebuilding it. Should be back on the road in may sometime.
