Default Rattling noise at high revs

My 2001 F4i runs fine with no problems save one minor annoyance: when revving high (4K and above) I hear a distinct rattling noise coming from the right side. This only happens at first and second gears. By the time I'm at third I don't hear it anymore. Is this something to be concerned with

does it sound like bb's in a can? If so its time for a new CCTL. Another possibility is loose nuts or bolts

Not quite, more like a loose nut, but I checked all the nuts on the outside and everything is pretty tight. I'll check it out again tomorrow when I ride to work.

thanks...

Cool

I'll bet you $10 bucks it's your CCTL. How many miles? Mine started doing it at 13K.

8.95K so far. On second thought I think it might be the CCT. Damn! Is this an easy fix or will it cost me

It's an moderately easy fix. The main thing is having the right tools. There's a thread currently discussing it: LINK, and there's a tutorial at http://cbrworld.net/. E-Bay sells them for cheap ($50~$60), but make sure you get a gasket with it. Do a search for it, not just here but web-wide; it's a very popular topic with the F4i.

Another thing, I'd suggest the APE Manual CCTL, not the OEM:
