Default RE: Race fuel

on some bike yes
it is all a matter of compression ratio

higher octane is required in high compression pistons so the gas doesnt explode before the entire compression stroke is complete
thats why you see a kia sophia running 87 while a dragster running 100+
you want the spark plug to ignite the mixure not the pressure
so if you put high octane in an engine that runs its best on lower octane the muxture may not be compressed enough to ignite fully when the spark happens
ie loss of hp and the unburned gasoline gets sent out the exhaust valves

octane boosters
simply do not work
they may raise 87 octane to 87.1
for example the bottle that says 104 or something like that
ok sure that bottle is 104 octane but when you mix it with a tank of 87 it gets very diluted

so the moral of this long winded story is run what keeps the bike from knocking
anything more is a waste of money because gas is expensive not to mention there isnt enough compression to get the full amount of hp out of each stroke

on top of bikes i build turbo cars so fuel is something i know
