Default Race Fuel

I have an 06 1000 and put race fuel in it twice. I't seemed like it ran stronger but i just want to know if it's good for the bike or not.
The race fuelsaid it was leaded offroad fuel only. My bike is stock.

Thanks!

what octane is it

some race fuel is higher octance for high compression engines

the higher the octane the higher compression you can run before it knocks (more comp=more hp)
it also lets the ecu advance the timing a little more because the higher octane prevents preignition

If you're running the same "offroad use only" race gas that Citgo sells in my area, it won't do anything for your bike's performance. It's not oxygenated or anything like that, it's just got a bunch of lead in it to raise the octane numbers. Octane is simply a fuel's resistance to pinging or detonation, and is not a measure of a fuel's energy or anything like that. The 06 CBR 1000 has no knock sensor and the ECU cannot adjust the timing to take advantage of any enhanced anti-knock properties of the fuel. While pre-ignition may lead to detonation (and vise versa) they're actually quite different phenomena. I don't know if leaded gas poses any threat to engines without catalytic converters, but I think you'd be hard pressed to justify its use when all things are considered.

yeah its only gonna hurt if your bike has a cat converter, even then it would take a while to do any damage

as SD said, actual race fuel is oxygenated, most likely what you put in is just high octane which will only help if you have engine mods that have boosted compression a good bit.

VP makes U4 and MR9 for motorcycles, thats the only race fuel I would put in anything but its obviously a complete waste on the street (U4 is around $15/gal and MR9 is about $25/gal)
U4 is the most widely used in club racing, its 92 octane and MR9 is 87

personally I'd say a 1000RR has about enough power for street riding that it probably doesn't need race gas

Then I have a question. Will the lead in the gas affect the oxygen sensor (Coat it)?

Using leaded gas shortens the life of widebandO2 sensors.Exactly how much I'm not sure, but I seem to remember one manufacturer indicating thatlead cancut the service life in half. I'm not sureif "traditional" O2 sensorsare as sensitiveto lead as the wideband sensors. Are you sure your bike has an O2 sensor?

No I am not sure. I did see somewhere that there was an oxygen sensor remove plug or something but I will bet that was for an overseas bike now that I think about it.
