Default Race fuel

There is a BP station close by my digs. They have a pump with what they call race fuel. It is 100 oct. I have not tried it yet but was thinking, would that hurt the motor any with 54,000 miles on it. I don't know what would be gained by it but it's there and I have to try it. What do you think?

the higher octane rating is it's resistance to detenation or ignition. unless your experiencing pinging, you won't recieve a benefit performance wise. it does have a great smell though. I run sunoco race fuel in my lawn mower. i'm a little [sm=roll.gif] but i love the smell, it brings back good ol' memories.

I don't have any problem with the way it runs but, I too can remember that smell so I think I will run 1/2 a tank threw it for old times sake.
Thanks,BT

I always run 93 octane in my bike no matter what anyone on here says. Always worked for me.

I have heard from a few people that they run their best times at the drag stip using 89 octane, with basicly stock bikes

If it's truly race fuel, you'll need to get your bike tuned to get the most out of it. Also, race fuel deterioates quickly, so, if your bike sits around for a while, it will gum up. A friend of mine forgot to drain his fuel system after a race weekend, the race fuel trashed his injectors.

My bike runs best on 85. I decided to blow off the race fuel and buy a StarBucks.

I run it in my banshee and it runs like a raped ape. I also run it in my bike every now and then But I shaved my head down a couple of thousanths. My mechanic says that I can run on 89 or higher but I too like the smell. It makes the guy at the local bike hang out think my bike is even faster. yeah right!!! it runs a little better but not enough to spend 5.45 per gallon

Iv read in the forums, that stock bike will run better on reg gas and that higher octanes will actually make the bike loose power, is this true?
