Default Preping a bike for paint

Hi All! Great Forum..

I just have a quick question. For self painters, what's the best way to remove the decal on the tank since it's been clear coated.

Thanks,.

Doing that is a pain in the a$$. I just finished redoing my bike a little while ago. I was having such a hard time getting those decals off that I just sent my tank out to my sandblaster and had him blast it. The only other way is to get the clear coat off with some sort of thinner, and then if the decal doesn't come off with that as well then use a heat gun and heat the decal then it should peel off. I deff reccomend just getting it blasted though.

I'll look into that, but my first option I had in mind was to sand the sh*t out of the tank. I'll use a heat gun for the rest of the decals. Since a buddy of mine is wanting to paint his bike too, it'll be a project for the both of us.

Maybe i'll also look around to see how much it would cost to sand blast.
