Power Commander III
I have just recently bought an 02 CBR954RR with a power commander iii already installed on it... Can anyone tell me how to work this thing? it has three buttons on it and a USB port, but was unseccessful in hooking it up to my laptop, after using a standard USB connector (not the one provided by Power Commander, didn't come with the bike). Was wondering what these three buttons do
the buttons are LOW, MID, and HIGH... and beside them is says RPM... I have pressed all of them while it is running and nothing noticable has changed in the RPM's... Do you have any idea where to get a free download of the software?? And do I need an approved USB cable??
This should get you in the right direction.

If it's already hooked up and has a map in it there really isn't anything "to use". It's already correcting your fueling for the pipe, as long as it was setup right. The buttons don't really need to ever be messed with.
However if you want to check or change the map there's a USB dongle for it, you need it plugged into a laptop with the usb dongle, the bike powered on but not started (or the 9v battery adapter hooked up to the unit), then using the software you can install and check new maps to the pc. The software and maps you can get from www.powercommander.com .

As Hangfire said, if the bike is riding well and the power output is strong through the whole rev range with no flat spots then the power commander is doing it's job and you don't need to mess with it.
The 3 buttons are a quick way to alter the fuelling at low, mid and high rpm respectively without connecting to your pc, this doesnt get saved onto the map though.
If I were you I'd download the software, don't change anything but have a look then leave it alone.
